Innovalia Metrology to focus on research into nanometrology
Last modified 22-06-2010
Innovalia Metrology has decided to focus its efforts especially on research into nanometrology, a field in which it hopes to obtain specific results over the next four years.
In this context, one of the main projects it is currently working on is called NanoCMM and is part of the EU’s VI Framework Programme. The aim of the project is to design, manufacture and commission three three-dimensional co-ordinate measuring machines with nanometer resolution.
As far as the design and manufacture of the machines are concerned, Datapixel is in charge of creating an optical sensor to measure nanometric components, whilst Unimetrik will carry out the calibration process to be able to use different sensors when taking the measurements.
At the same time, Trimek and Datapixel, two of the three companies making up Innovalia’s metrology unit, are taking part in the FASys consortium, a pioneering project in Europe that aims to establish the bases for a completely safe and healthy factory. Through these two companies, Innovalia Metrology will develop the key technology to enable a new generation of co-ordinate measuring machines, man-machine interfaces and new concepts of man-machine interaction to be put into operation.
Another area presenting a challenge is contactless measurement, as well as the scope for new sectors and globalisation.
Innovalia Metrology is made up of the following companies: Trimek, Datapixel, Unimetrik and Concept Metrology for the design, manufacture and supply of components for quality control.
