CORREA RECEIVES THE IF DESIGN GOLD AWARD FOR THE INNOVATIVE DESIGN OF ITS NEW AXIA MILLING MACHINE

01 June, 2021

The Nicolas Correa Group (GNC), a leading company worldwide in milling solutions, has been awarded the iF Design Gold Award 2021, the top award offered in the prestigious iF Design Award international industrial design contest, in the Products category, for their new AXIA milling machine.

The AXIA milling machine was selected from over 10,000 products from 52 countries. The AXIA, constructed in the Nicolas Correa Group’s installations in Burgos, was designed in collaboration with Nacar Design. The machine has functional aesthetics and design that allows it to be integrated into any industrial context, thanks to the use of top-quality materials and processes, particularly important factors that have placed AXIA in top position in the contest.

For Victor Diez, Head Engineer in the Nicolas Correa Group, “this prize is another example of recognition for the tremendous work and dedication of a great team formed by Nicolas Correa and Nacar Design, who once again have spared no effort to achieve a unique result. This new design is a perfect combination of the advanced technology used in the machine and care for the smallest details, to obtain an end product with the maximum quality, precision and reliability, qualities highly valued by our clients. This avant-garde design also represents a change in product development, the evolution of machines adapted to the new manufacturing context.”

Other prizes

At the same time, GNC was also awarded another prize in the 2021 edition of the iF Design Awards, in the product category, for its UCE, a milling head with two continuous axes for high-speed finishing operations, which adds to the two prizes obtained by the company in the previous contest for its FOX milling machine, a bridge-type machine that combines traditional grinding capacity with the speed and  precision of high-performance milling, and UAD, a universal milling head with automatic positioning.

GNC was also a protagonist in the Red Dot Awards, an international design contest, with their UAD and ICE milling heads in the 2020 and 2021 editions, and in the Premios Delta 2020, awarded in recognition of the work of industrial designers and manufacturing companies, for the FOX milling machine.

The prize-winning products have been designed in collaboration with Nacar Design, an industrial design studio founded in 2006 and based in Barcelona that elaborates strategies for design, research and UX / UI product design, with a large engineering and creative team.

As Bern Donadeu, Co-founder and creative director of Nacar Design said: “Sharing this prize with the Correa team is one more indication of the great collaboration between the different teams and departments from both sides. Aligning conception and planning to turn our vision into reality. All of this effort is reflected in the results, such as the iF Awards that have been awarded to the AXIA and UCE designs. We can only thank the Correa team for trusting in Nacar Design and in our vision, to make these innovative products a market reality.”
