HEPYC TYPE S DRILL BITS FOR FAST CHIP REMOVAL

18 March, 2019

Depending on the material to be drilled and/or drilling depth, it may be necessary to use drill bits with especially adapted grooves for this type of work.

Hepyc drill bits with type S grooves are perfect for these needs. These drill bits have especially augmented and polished grooves, especially rounded on the rear edge of the core, allowing fast chip removal and, thereby, perfect cooling of the drill bit head, since the refrigerant can flow evenly through the groove. Their fast chip removal capability means they are particularly suitable for deep drilling and/or drilling into soft materials that generate long chips. At the same time, the improved refrigeration at the tip also makes them suitable for drilling cast metals and steels up to 1100 N/mm2.

The special design of the groove is complemented with a 130º tip angle, a thicker nucleus gauge to reinforce the drill bit and a corrected sharpness for greater penetration and centring. These drill bits are manufactured in HSS-Co, fully rectified and with two types of finish: bright or latest-generation TiAlN for higher performance.

The full range includes the following references, based on drilling lengths:

Refs.1166 (bright) and 1167 (TiAlN) as per DIN 1897 for depths up to 3xD
Refs.1159 (bright) and 1160 (TiAlN) as per DIN 338 for depths up to 5xD
Refs.1114 (bright) and 1164 (TiAlN) as per DIN 340 for depths up to 10xD
Ref.1165 (bright) as per DIN 1869/1/2/3 for depths up to 15/20/30xD
