28 May, 2025The machine tool manufacturer Berkoa has decided to focus part of its activity on retrofitting equipment in a context of market uncertainty and instability. The fact is that the modernisation and adaptation of equipment is a practice that a large number of companies opt for as an alternative to optimise and modernise their current machines.
In this line of work, Berkoa has retrofitted a Danobat Toyoda machine with a remarkable improvement in its performance and efficiency thanks to the customised solutions implemented by the company. In addition to this work, other retrofittings have been carried out on machines of well-known brands such as Voumard such as Voumard grinding machines, Tacchella, Trevisan drilling machines, Haux grinding machines, Dormer, Latz and rotary friction welding machines.
In the field of welding machines, Berkoa has experience working with models of leading brands such as Kuka, Thompson, New Britain and British Federal. In relation to this Rotary Friction Welding technology, one of the most outstanding advances has been the development of the BLSC 4.0 Registered Controller, co-designed with its technological partner Lortek. This system facilitates real-time control of processes, optimising parameters and improving processes, optimising parameters and improving traceability. Its ability to integrate into automated environments makes it a key component for companies seeking to advance in their digitisation, as the company points out.
Berkoa has developed a new project with this joining technology together with the Lortek technology centre and the company Vors Control. As part of the initiative, they have created a digital twin of the forging actuator and the welding process, which has made it possible to readjust the control and improve the results. This development has optimised the control of parameters such as pressure, torque, speed and position, improving the behaviour of the system and the quality of the rotary friction welding process.
