NICOLÁS CORREA, S.A., WINNER OF THE INNOVATION IN ADVANCED AND DIGITAL MANUFACTURING AWARD 2018

25 June, 2018

Last 31 May, Nicolás Correa S.A. received the Innovation in Advanced and Digital Manufacturing Award 2018 during the 30th edition of the BIEHM, the Spanish Machine Tool Biennial. The company received the award in "Innovation in machine tools, components, accessories and tools" for its UDX head, the first in a long series of new CORREA brand heads.

The President of AFM CLUSTER, César Garbalena and the Councillor for Economic Promotion of the Bizkaia County Council, Imanol Pradales, together with Xabier Basañez, Managing Director of BEC, Alberto Alonso Martín, Managing Director of Osalan, Alfonso Urzainki, President of ADDIMAT and Xabier Ortueta, Managing Director of AFM CLUSTER handed out the awards.

The BIEMH has become a unique venture for the presentation of technological and product innovations, where the UDX head was the centre of attention this year. This head, which previously earned the iF Design Award 2018 at the start of the year in one of the world's most prestigious competitions, sprung from the desire to solve a variety of technological and marketing needs that have arisen in recent years. The features of the UDX head manufactured by Nicolás Correa make it unique in the market. This mechanical transmission milling head is equipped with a double coupling rotation (every 0.02º) mechanism patented by Nicolás Correa that is capable of rotating the spindle at 10,000 rpm without limitations. During the BIEMH, Nicolás Correa also exhibited two of its most emblematic machines: the FOX-50 bridge-type milling machine with a UAD head and the NORMA-25 fixed bed machine with integrated plate, both of which are equipped with the Delfos 4.0 cloud-based machine monitoring system. This system provides information in real time about global machine behaviour, thereby allowing significant improvements in performance.

Nicolás Correa's presence in the 30th edition of the Spanish Machine Tool Biennial has reinforced its commitment to Industry 4.0 and the UDX head has become the symbol of the technological leap undertaken by the company during recent years.
