DANOBAT LAUNCHES THE NEW IRDC ROBOTIC CELL FOR CANMAKING TOOL RECOVERY
07 May, 2026DANOBAT has launched the new IRDc, a robotic cell specifically developed for grinding punches and dies used in canmaking production. The solution has been designed from scratch for this application, with the goal of extending tool life through a precise and automated recovery process.
Unlike adapted solutions, the IRDc is purpose-built for the canmaking industry and allows external, internal, radius and profile grinding operations to be carried out on a single machine. In addition, it integrates the machining of ironing dies, redraw dies and punches within one compact solution.
The company also highlights the precision levels achieved, with surface finishes below Ra 0.03 μm on dies and micrometric tolerances on punches. The robotic cell provides up to 11 hours of autonomous operation, equivalent to processing around 90 dies, reducing one of the main bottlenecks in can production and improving operational continuity.
