18 June, 2025Next Thursday, June 19, 2025, the Machine Tool Museum will receive the SIF 2025 Award granted by the Manufacturing Engineering Society during the closing dinner of the MESIC 2025 (Manufacturing Engineering Society International Conference) in Bilbao.
The SIF has unanimously decided to grant this award to the museum “for its outstanding contribution to the recovery and preservation of industrial heritage related to the machine tool, serving as an educational resource to showcase technological evolution and developing a documentation service that, by collecting the legacy of the past, facilitates the future technological development of the machine tool sector.”
The Machine Tool Museum has expressed deep gratitude to SIF for this recognition, which reinforces the work carried out since its opening in December 1998 in Elgoibar, a town emblematic of the sector. For over 25 years, the museum has highlighted the sector's technological history through a living exhibition of functioning machines and an extensive documentary archive.
The SIF Award has previously been granted to highly relevant institutions such as the Spanish Cultural Heritage Institute, the Spanish Metrology Center, AFM, and Talgo, among others. For the museum, being listed among these references is a motivation to continue working with the same commitment.
The museum will continue its mission with the support of its board of trustees, made up of Elgoibar City Council, IMH Campus, AFM Cluster, Danobatgroup, and more than 70 friends of the museum. This award is an incentive to face the future with renewed commitment to preservation, dissemination, and connection with an ever-evolving industrial sector.
