ZAYER AND TEKNIKER SIGN A COLLABORATION AGREEMENT IN R&D

20 October, 2020

Zayer and the technology center Tekniker, member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA), reaffirmed on September 24 at the facilities of the technology center in Eibar their joint commitment to promoting R&D&I in machine tools and contribute to the economic reactivation of the industry.

The collaboration between both entities began in 1994 with a first joint project and it has strengthened over the years through different milestones, until in 2014, Zayer became a collaborating entity of the technology center, which has made coordinating R&D strategies and activities easier, maximizing results and consolidating a stable and productive relationship over time.

In this sense, they recently signed a collaboration and transfer agreement for the high-performance machine Arion G, winner of the BIEMH 2018 innovation award, a multi-function, connected, versatile, precise and easy-maintenance machining center, for its installation in Tekniker's facilities to carry out developments and R & D & I activities. The projects in which they work together were also announced, for which the transfer of the Arion G machine will be vital since this machine allows working in real environments and achieving results that can be quickly transferred to the market.

With the Arion G machine at the Tekniker facilities, future projects that generate more market for Zayer and that, at the same time, represent an advance in the maturity of the technology delivered by Tekniker can be tackled, thus reducing the time-to- market of the products. In this sense, the common objective of both is to achieve innovative and competitive products at an international level that allow the Basque industry to be at the forefront.

This connected and intelligent machine donated by Zayer is part of a joint project, MEDECO, financed by the CDTI and managed by AFM, whose completion is expected in 2021, and whose main objectives are to develop new multiprocess capabilities that allow maximum operations to be carried out on the same machine, guaranteeing quality by avoiding vibrations from the process, as well as increasing availability by knowing the real condition of the machine; that is, objectives that are vital to advance in maintenance 4.0, as well as in the quality of the products.

Participating in the presentation of the agreement were Patricia Tamés from AFM, Alex Bengoa, Itziar Cenoz, Fernando Egaña and Mikel Armendia from Tekniker and Iñigo Perez, Luis Calleja and Koldo Beitia from Zayer.
