SARRALLE CONTINUES TO EXPAND IN THE UNITED STATES WITH A NEW CONTRACT TO SUPPLY A STEEL SLITTING LINE FOR NORTH AMERICAN STAINLESS (NAS)

Sarralle takes another important leap forward in North America building on its other recent successes and working to grow as a strategic supplier to the country’s large steel manufacturers demonstrated with a new contract at North American Stainless (NAS), the Acerinox Group. This is the second major contract that Sarralle was awarded in the United States after reaching an agreement with Arcelor Mittal and Nippon Steel Corporation (AM/NS Calvert) to supply a completely new steelmaking plant in Alabama. Specifically, the contract with NAS is to supply a new fully automated state-of-the-art slitting line for the processing of coils manufactured at NAS’s facility. The new line will be delivered to the Kentucky site where Sarralle will provide the assembly and commissioning services expected to take place in the first quarter of 2022.

Production details

Sarralle will design and manufacture a new slitting line for NAS (from 0.4 to 3.0 mm thick), capable of processing coils up to 35 Tn and allow NAS to increase its plant output. To maintain the projects tight schedule, Sarralle will work simultaneously in its Azpeitia manufacturing plant to modernize equipment coming from Acerinox France (dismantled and transferred to Azpeitia for renovation) along with the design and construction of the Sarralle’s new machinery.

Additionally, Sarralle will take control of the installation and assembly services (mechanical, hydraulic and electrical) including the manufacture of the new electrical control cabinets. The new line will be fully automated, with a new PLC and a Level II interface to the existing ERP at NAS, thus ensuring the best product quality of the line. This new investment further consolidates NAS as a leading manufacturer of stainless steel for products and services of the highest quality and reaffirms Sarralle as an ally for large steel manufacturers worldwide.
