25 May, 2026The third edition of the Industry Summit will take place on 3 June in Madrid, bringing together experts and executives from some of the leading industrial and technology companies to analyse the challenges that are reshaping the future of advanced manufacturing.
The event, organised by AFM Cluster, will address key issues such as advanced automation, robots and humanoids, China’s impact on global industry, and the strategic role of defence in the new global context. The day will combine presentations, panel discussions and networking opportunities with companies and professionals from the industrial ecosystem.
The event will begin with an institutional welcome from Pablo Conde, Director General of International Business Development at ICEX, and a presentation by Xabier Ortueta, Director General of AFM Cluster, on the current state of the advanced manufacturing sector in Spain.
The first section of the programme, focusing on “The factory of the future: robots and humanoids”, will feature Agustín Sáenz, Director of Strategy, Market and Technology at TECNALIA, who will give a presentation on physical AI and humanoids, and Ander Ansuategi, a researcher in automation and robotics technologies at TEKNIKER, who will analyse the new possibilities of flexible robotics with artificial intelligence for highly variable industrial environments.
This session will also include a round table moderated by Agustín Sáenz, with the participation of Ander Ansuategi, David Trabal, Managing Director at FANUC Iberia, and Xabier Alzaga, CEO at DANOBAT. Following this, Borja Rodríguez, Smart Manufacturing Ambassador for Industrial Metrology & Additive Manufacturing at RENISHAW, will discuss how to increase productivity through process control.
After the networking coffee break, the day will continue with a session dedicated to China’s impact on global industry, moderated by Mikel Artola, Director of Markets at AFM Cluster. Julio López Castaño, Senior Advisor and Spain Representative at INTERCHINA, will analyse the challenges and opportunities that China presents for machine tool manufacturers. This will be followed by a round-table discussion featuring Carmen Pinto, CEO at CORREA; Arrate Olaiz, CEO at IBARMIA; Roberto Mielgo, Managing Director at SHUTON; and Julio López Castaño himself.
The final part of the programme will focus on defence and its role in the new global order. María Ruiz-Lopetedi, Deputy Director of Economic Development at AFM Cluster, will present the Cluster’s strategy in this area, whilst Vicente Torres Vázquez, Brigadier General in the Spanish Army and Deputy Director General for Defence Industrial Strategy at DIGEID/SEDEF/MINISDEF, will outline the Spanish Government’s perspective. The session will conclude with a presentation by Virgilio García, CEO of NOVAINDEF, on the role of additive manufacturing in the defence sector.
In its previous edition, Industry Summit attracted over 150 attendees and was supported by 14 sponsors, establishing itself as a key event for the sector.
