26 January, 2024The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa has carried out a visit to leading companies in the machine tool and advanced manufacturing sector in Gipuzkoa, with the aim of strengthening the collaboration between the administration and companies in the sector, promoting economic development and innovation in Gipuzkoa.
During the day, meetings were held at DANOBATGROUP, IDEKO and MAHERHOLDING in Elgoibar, and FAGOR AUTOMATION in Escoriaza, where the innovations and technological advances of these leading companies were explored.
On behalf of the Provincial Council, Ane Insausti, Deputy of Economic Promotion and Strategic Projects, and Unai Andueza, General Director of Economic Promotion, attended the visit. On behalf of AFM Cluster, they were accompanied by Xabier Ortueta, general director, Patricia Tamés, deputy director and head of technology, and María Ruiz-Lopetedi, deputy director and head of marketing and communication. Also present were José Pérez Berdud, president of AFM Cluster and CEO of Fagor Automation, and Miguel Ángel Montes, board member of the cluster and president of Cometel.
The visit began in the morning at DANOBATGROUP, a benchmark company in grinding and turning, followed by IDEKO, a technology center specializing in manufacturing technologies and industrial production, where the commitment to research and development was valued, as well as its essential role in the transfer of knowledge to strengthen the competitiveness of the industry.
Afterwards, they visited MAHERHOLDING, a group of seven brands in the machine tool sector, where they highlighted the breadth of the group's capabilities and its presence in different segments of the industry. Finally, the day concluded at FAGOR AUTOMATION, a company with extensive experience in the development and manufacture of products for machine automation and control.
The visit has allowed the representatives of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa to obtain a detailed vision of the capabilities and contributions of these companies, reaffirming the joint commitment towards the promotion of economic development and innovation in Gipuzkoa.
