ONA INSTALLS THE AV60 WIRE EDM MACHINE AT THE SANTA BÁRBARA SISTEMAS TECHNOLOGY CENTRE

ONA has strengthened its position in the field of advanced manufacturing for defence applications with the installation of the ONA AV60 wire-cut EDM machine at the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Centre, established by Santa Bárbara Sistemas in collaboration with Novaindef, in Alcalá de Guadaíra (Seville).

The addition of this equipment forms part of the launch of a centre, now operational, focused on the full life cycle of land defence systems, integrating production capabilities, process development and technology demonstration. This infrastructure addresses the need to strengthen industrial autonomy and optimise maintenance, repair and modernisation operations.

The ONA AV60 is designed for the machining of large, highly complex parts with stringent requirements for precision and stability. The machine enables the machining of high-hardness materials and complex geometries, whilst maintaining tight tolerances and a high-quality surface finish. Its architecture and process control systems ensure stable, repeatable and reliable machining in high value-added applications.

These capabilities are key in sustainment operations, where rapid response and dimensional consistency directly impact the operational availability of systems, helping to consolidate critical industrial capabilities within the defence ecosystem.
