23 April, 2026Schaeffler has been awarded the Sustainability Award in Automotive 2026 in the “Mobility Concepts: Business Models” category for its Schaeffler E-Axle Repair Tool, a solution designed for the professional repair of electric motors rather than their complete replacement.
The award, presented by the ATZ/MTZ Group and the consultancy firm Arthur D. Little, recognises solutions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The award ceremony will take place on 19 May 2026 in Frankfurt am Main, as part of the 20th International MTZ Symposium on Future Powertrains.
The tool enables the safe, controlled and contact-free removal and installation of the rotor and stator in electric motors. Its design offers high rigidity and mechanical precision, facilitating operations such as loosening seized joints or fitting bearings without damaging sensitive components. Furthermore, it can withstand pressing forces of up to 10,000 newtons, making it suitable for demanding applications.
As part of Schaeffler’s Vehicle Lifetime Solutions portfolio, the solution supports repair models aligned with the circular economy. Its use reduces resource consumption compared to complete replacement of the electric motor and opens up new opportunities for specialist workshops in the electromobility market.
