With this objective, the Gipuzkoan machine tool manufacturer is immersed in an R&D project for the development of a new five-axis CNC machine that will have larger dimensions and will be suitable for machining parts weighing up to 500 kilos. .

Lagun will present the new CNC at EMO 2023

The new machine, in line with the industry 4.0 strategy designed by the company, will incorporate among its characteristics higher acceleration levels and more advanced technological aspects, complying, in turn, with the most respectful criteria of current sustainability. The investment involved in the development of the new CNC, which has been supported with financial support from the CDTI, will amount to around 250,000 euros. According to the person in charge of Lagun Machinery, three clients of the Gipuzkoan manufacturer located in the surroundings of Mondragon, as well as in the capital of Alava, have shown their interest in the advances of this new machine that, foreseeably, will celebrate its launch in the course of of the next edition of the EMO in Hannover in September 2023.

Good sensations

The event produced good results for the companies of the Maher Holding group, whose order book for the year exceeds that of 2021, said Jorge Arriola, who is currently also its president. The group exports 95 percent of its turnover and Germany is one of its main markets with 15 percent of sales. "It is true that some customers are delaying their purchases," acknowledged the manager, "but, in general, the year is working well." The Maher Holding group includes six companies under its emblem: Lagun Machinery, GMTK, Addilan and Atera, to which Geminis, Lagun Machine Tools and Mekalerun joined after the disappearance of Goratu. "This is a fair for manufacturers and distributors," said Jorge Arriola. Although Geminis participated in the AMB together with Zayer, under the umbrella of its distributor in Germany, Iberimex; Lagun and GMTK did it under the name of JMT Juaristi. Its distributor in Germany received two orders at the Lagun Machinery fair: a three-axis L 00 machining center for the new German client Block Optic, a manufacturer of tables for the dental sector; and a 5-axis CNC for the German machinist Bruno Becker.
