HEPYC FEATURES A NEW HSS STEP POINT DRILL BIT DESIGNED TO MAKE DRILLING EASIER

22 April, 2026
HEPYC is expanding its range of cutting tools with the new HSS Step Point drill bit (Ref. 1602), designed to improve performance at the start of drilling, particularly in maintenance and production applications where reliability and speed are key.

Manufactured from HSS in accordance with DIN 338 and featuring a 30° helix, this drill bit incorporates a stepped tip that facilitates centring from the moment it first makes contact with the workpiece. This geometry reduces the tendency to slip and, in many cases, eliminates the need for pre-drilling.

The design also promotes a more gradual entry into the material, resulting in lower axial load and reduced vibrations during machining. This provides greater stability to the process and helps minimise the risk of breakage, particularly in less controlled working conditions.

In terms of chip evacuation, the tool’s geometry maintains balanced performance across different materials, preventing build-up and contributing to a smoother, more continuous operation.

Another notable feature is the handle with three flat sides, which improves torque transmission and reduces the risk of slipping in the chuck – a particularly important consideration when using a hand drill.

The drill bit is suitable for steels up to 800 N/mm², cast iron, non-ferrous metals and plastics, making it a versatile solution for workshop and industrial supply environments.

With this addition, HEPYC remains committed to solutions that simplify day-to-day work, focusing on the tool’s real-world functionality under normal working conditions.
