LANTEK CONFIRMS ITS COMMITMENT TO TALENT AND JOB CREATION AT BACK TO ARABA 2021 EVENT

24 January, 2022

In a new display of its commitment to talent and the generation of quality job opportunities with a promising future in the Basque Country, Lantek, a multinational company focused on the development and marketing of CAD/CAM/MES/ERP software solutions and a pioneer in digital transformation of metal industry companies, has participated in the Back to Araba 2021 event, which was held on 23 December last in the Europa Conference Centre in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

This is the fourth edition of Back to Araba, an event promoted by SEA Empresas Alavesas and largely targeted at three types of profile: professionals seeking to join a large Alava-based company, those working in the Basque Country seeking to change jobs, and those who left Alava for employment elsewhere and who are seeking to return. This is the third year that Lantek is attending the event and, on this occasion, the team was joined by its CEO, Alberto López de Biñaspre, at the event’s main round table; Gemma Nogales, People Development Director, leading the corporate presentation, and Lidia Almazán, a Data Scientist with the company, who shared her experience of being a professional abroad who has returned to work in the Basque Country.

Lantek has made a firm commitment to talent and people, with involvement in different educational projects with several universities and entities, collaborating on initiatives in the Digital Industry, Artificial Intelligence fields, promoting interest in STEAM careers among girls through the Inspira STEAM project or through Dual Training in engineering degrees, among others.

Furthermore, in 2021, Lantek has received support from Basque institutions to accelerate R&D&i by granting two Hazitek projects focused on applying technology 4.0 to the metal sector, with a pledged investment of 1.6 million euros between 2021 and 2023, as highlighted by Alberto López de Biñaspre, CEO of Lantek, during his round table speech at the event: “The foundation of our success is the excellence of our teams, who have always risen to the challenge in terms of business and being at the cutting-edge of technology. Furthermore, over the coming years we intend to reinforce investment in development, which will promote the launch of new products in order to sustain our position as technological leader in the sector. This path will help us to continue to commit to talent, with the recruitment of almost 200 new employees over the next three years”.

Gemma Nogales, People Development Director at Lantek, spoke along similar lines: “Capturing and fostering loyalty among talent continues to be a real challenge for technological companies. The Lantek project is people-centred because people are and will always be our best asset, and without the best professionals, we could never have brought Lantek to its current leadership position. For all these reasons, an essential part of our strategy continues to be carrying out actions and promoting collaborations that will help us to seek, develop and protect talent”.

Lidia Almazán, a data scientist for the company, shared her professional development story with the attendees. After taking a degree in Physics and a masters in Mathematics, Almazán decided to leave her native Catalonia to obtain a doctorate in Engineering from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. After living for 10 years in Germany, Almazán decided to work in the Basque Country: “Having international training under my belt helped me to open a lot of doors in my professional career. But, at the same time, it has made me more aware of the great value offered by Basque companies like Lantek, that can offer solvent, attractive projects with a future, where innovation and technical specialisation are key”.
