TEKNIKER CONSOLIDATES ITS POSITION AS A TECHNOLOGICAL ALLY OF COMPANIES IN 2024 WITH A NEW TURNOVER RECORD: 33.5 M €.

17 July, 2025
The Tekniker technology centre, a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA), directs much of the efforts of its current Strategic Plan to promote technology transfer to companies. In this sense, the results of the 2024 financial year, a year that was once again a historic one for Tekniker with a turnover of 33.5 million euros, consolidate this mission.

Half of the revenue came from industrial projects with companies that contracted the services of the centre as a technology provider in its three main areas: advanced manufacturing technologies; surface and materials technologies; and digital technologies. In addition, the contracting of this type of initiatives, direct with companies, not linked to public funding programmes, recorded a 40% growth during 2024, which augurs a positive evolution with a total of 160 projects underway. This growth highlights the differential value that Tekniker brings to the business fabric, since organisations perceive a direct and significant return on the collaboration established.

An example of the value that Tekniker brings to its more than 250 clients in highly demanding sectors such as aeronautics, energy or health is reflected in the 29 long-term collaboration agreements in force. This network of collaborating entities formed by leaders in their sectors is evidence of the mutual trust and commitment to innovation and technological excellence.

In addition, it should be noted that Tekniker's turnover figure in 2024 amounts to 47.8 million euros, adding the income from the portfolio of the six investee companies of the technology centre, which are just some of the 32 start-ups that have been born through the technology centre since its founding.

"These figures are the result of a solid strategy that is constantly adapting to the changing environment and new market needs. Our goal is to continue to focus on specialisation, technology transfer and the generation of DeepTech start-ups, and to this end, the Erisono technology hub, in which we are working to attract companies with high added value, will be key," said Luis Uriarte, CEO of Tekniker.

Moreover, in 2024 Tekniker has launched collaborative laboratory initiatives, in collaboration with industrial companies, with the aim of offering a joint workspace for the design, development and validation of comprehensive, scalable solutions oriented to different technologies. This initiative seeks to accompany companies in their transformation processes, acting as a strategic instrument to align technology, industrial needs and sustainability.

Finally, Tekniker's commitment to technological innovation has been recognised with the award for the Best Initiative Driven by Technology Centres at the Disruptors Innovation Awards 2024. The award distinguishes the HORACE project, funded by ESA, in which Tekniker has developed the first wind turbine adapted to the conditions of Mars, a disruptive solution that opens new avenues for power generation in future space exploration missions.
