31 October, 2017

The Regional Minister of Economic Development and Competitiveness, Arantxa Tapia, and the minister for Economic Promotion, Ainhoa Aizpuru have taken part in the closing session of the congress in San Sebastian.

The awards to the best papers of the scientific community, enterprise, best final year project and to the best paper presented in the Basque language were presented.

More than 400 people have had the chance to discover the latest in advanced manufacturing.

The Regional Minister of Economic Development and Competitiveness, Arantxa Tapia, has presided the closing ceremony of the twenty-first edition of the most important industrial congress to be held in Spain. This year, the congress, held at the Technology and Science Park of Guipuzcoa, has been attended by more than four hundred people who have had the chance to discover the main advances related to industry 4.0, additive manufacturing, cyber-security, big data and talent, together with experts of acknowledged prestige.

Ainhoa Aizpuru, Minister for Economic Promotion, Rural Medium and Territorial Equilibrium, has, on her part, emphasised that the main challenges of the territory fully coincide with the major topics of the congress: Competitiveness, digitalisation and people.

The Congress prizes were presented during the closing ceremony. The first prize, for the best paper presented by the technical-scientific community went to Mikel Arizmendi from TECNUN for his paper entitled: “Surface texturisation by means of 5-axis milling”. The jury highlighted that “it tackles the need for texturisation by means of universal techniques with an original model that adapts well to reality, economically opening up many industrial application opportunities for the machine-tool”, also underscoring its exceptional presentation.

The company that received the award for the most innovative paper was ZAYER, for their presentation entitled “Flexible System for machining aeronautical skin”, whose author was Koldo Beitia.

The third prize, for the best final year project went to Juan Carlos Soldado, student from the Higher Technical School of Engineering and Industrial Design of Madrid Polytechnic University.

The Congress also awarded a fourth prize to the best paper presented in the Basque language, which went to Aitzol Galletebeitia from IK4-Ideko for his paper entitled “Kinematic diamond-cutting model with rotary disc”.

This paper has a high technological level and outstanding technical quality, demonstrating the idiomatic integrity on fostering the Basque language.
