THE BIEMH TURNS BILBAO ONCE AGAIN INTO THE CAPITAL OF INDUSTRY

The appraisal offered this morning by the organisers of the 30 BIEMH has been unanimous; from all perspectives: occupation, visitors, trade contacts and business opportunities, the largest industrial trade fair held in Spain, has as he anticipated in his presentation been the best of the decade.  Xabier Montserrat Olivier, Managing Director of BEC, Mª Carmen Gorostiza, Director of BIEMH, César Garbalena, President of AFM CLUSTER, Xabier Ortueta, Managing Director of AFM CLUSTER and Eduard Ferran, President of AIMHE took part in the press conference, held this morning in BEC’s press room.

The BIEMH 2018 has been marked by the excellent display of Advanced and Digital Manufacturing technology manufacturers in its six pavilions. Full of developments related to digitalization and the possibilities its application opens up in the industrial world, BEC's corridors have been jam-packed during the five days of the fair. The spectacular display of manufacturers of machines, components and systems for producing has, on this occasion, joined a wide range of conferences and presentations. 

In the course of the holding of the Machine Tool Biennial the National Prizes for Innovation in Advanced and Digital Manufacturing organised by AFM CLUSTER have been awarded with the support of BEC and Beaz (Bizkaia Innovation Agency) that have been given to ZAYER, CORREA, ADDILAN and SAVVY DATA SYSTEMS.

The President of AFM CLUSTER, César Garbalena has stated: “We have given an impression of a strong, modern, technological industry, with a great present and an even greater future. A veritable demonstration of strength and capacity. Thanks to the BIEMH, we have projected a powerful image of an industrial country”.

Following the opening ceremony on Monday presided over by the Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, Arantza Tapia, County Councillor of Economic Development and Infrastructures, County Councillor of Finance and Economy, Pedro Azpiazu, County Councillor of Employment and Social Policies, Beatriz Artolazabal, the Presidents of Gipuzkoa and Bizkaia, Markel Olano and Unai Rementeria, Director General of Industry and SMEs, Mario Buisán, Regional Member of Parliament of Economic and Territorial Development, Imanol Pradales, Regional Member of Parliament of Employment, Social Inclusion and Equality, Teresa Laespada, both from the Regional Government of Bizkaia, Member of Parliament of Economic Promotion, Garikoitz Agote, Director General of Economic Promotion, Antton Tomasena, both from the Regional Government of Gipuzkoa, General Secretary of PSE-EE, Idoia Mendía, General Coordinator of BILDU, Arnaldo Otegi, Managing Director of SPRI, Alex Arriola, Mayors of Bilbao, Barakaldo and Elgoibar and representatives of ADEGI, ICEX, CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE, CDTI and CONFEBASK.
