THE BIEMH CONFIRMS A CHANGE IN CYCLE IN INDUSTRY

The expectations have been exceeded.

In addition to the increase in exhibition surface at the fair, there has been a greater influx of purchasers and investors.

The 28th BIEMH closes its doors today, after six intense days when the manufacturers of machine tools and manufacturing technologies have shown their latest developments, to the organisers’ great satisfaction and also to the satisfaction of the companies that committed to it as the best showcase for their production. The show has validated the slow but progressive improvement of the domestic market.

The President of AFM, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Antxon Lopez Usoz and the Director General of Bilbao Exhibition Centre, Xabier Basañez, together with the director of the fair, Mª Carmen Gorostiza and the Director General of AFM, Xabier Ortueta have presented the final data for the fair this morning, which, for the majority of the exhibitors, has had better commercial results than expected.

In the words of the president of AFM, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, Antxon López Usoz: “The Biennial has proved to be the prelude of a gradual industrial recovery”.

The AFM Innovation Awards have been presented during the course of the fair. In this eleventh edition, they have been granted to the companies, ONA ELECTROEROSION, in the machine tool category and ZAYER in the components, tools and accessories category. .

The institutions have shown their support to the sector by visiting the fair throughout the week. Following the inauguration by the Lehendakari (Prime Minister) of the Basque Country, Íñigo Urkullu, together with the Regional Minister for Economic Development and Competitiveness, Arantza Tapia, the General Ministers of Vizcaya, Guipuzcoa and Alava, the Minister of Innovation, Rural Development and Tourism of Guipuzcoa, Jon Peli Uriguen, the Director General for the Promotion of Innovation and knowledge of Guipuzcoa, Oskar Usetxi, the Deputy Minister for Technology, Innovation and Competitiveness, Estibaliz Hernáez, the Deputy Minister of Industry, José Ignacio Garcia de Motiloa, the Deputy Minister for Vocational Training, Jorge Arévalo, the Deputy Minister for Employment and Work, Rikardo Barkala, the Director General for Science, Technology and Innovation of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, Mª Luisa Castaño, the Director General of SPRI, Alex Arriola, representatives from ICEX, CDTI, Adegi, Confebask, and Confemetal, have visited the novelties presented by the manufacturers of advanced manufacturing technologies, together with members of the Competitiveness Commission of the Basque Parliament.
