FUTURE DIGITAL INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS TRAINED AT DANOBATGROUP

19 February, 2018

The implementation of robotics, automation of manufacturing processes and the introduction of digital technologies in the industry demand new professional profiles capable of meeting the challenges posed by smart factories.

In this context, strengthening the links between the business world and the educational community by actively collaborating in curriculum design is key to ensuring that the training of experts is tailored to industry’s needs.

As part of its commitment to the training of talent, DANOBATGROUP participates in the Master’s degree in Industrial Automation of the University of Mondragon, a degree designed to provide the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to advance in automation processes through the application of robotic solutions, artificial vision systems and developments based on the concepts of Industry 4.0.

The Master´s degree, which is given for the first time this academic year, follows the dual training concept over two distinct phases. The first phase spans from October to April, during which the students alternate between theoretical classes at the university and practical training in the manufacturing plants of the companies that collaborate with this degree. The second phase from April to the end of July, comprises full-time dedication of the students to write their Master´s Dissertation: the company, in agreement with the student, defines the scope of the subject matter with an eminently practical character aligned with the interest of the company. On giving the official presentation of this dissertation, the Master´s degree is completed.

At present, four students attend DANOBAT and SORALUCE companies daily, to learn about the functioning of control systems used in automation, devices that are part of industrial processes, application of mechatronic solutions or sensorization tools of Industry 4.0.

“Being committed to people is part of DANOBATGROUP´s corporate values. Our commitment to training of qualified professionals and talent retention is materialised through collaboration agreements with educational centres of excellence such as the University of Mondragon", says Iker Usabiaga, Director of Social Management at DANOBATGROUP.

In his opinion, this Master’s degree seeks to respond to the need for new professional profiles that combine knowledge of mechanics, electronics, algorithms and industrial engineering, among other disciplines.

“The new paradigm of the digital industry requires professions hitherto unknown in our sector, such as data analysts, capable of extracting information necessary to provide intelligence to manufacturing means,"adds Usabiaga.

In addition to hosting the students of the Master´s degree in the production plants, the collaboration of DANOBATGROUP extends to the theoretical field, as some of the specialists of the Group give classes on advanced concepts of automation.

On the 13th of February, the students of the Master were invited to a conference in which they were able to get to know the Group and its businesses first-hand, visit the facilities that DANOBAT and IK4-IDEKO have in Elgoibar and attend the lecture "Advanced Sensory Application for Machine Conditioning", given by IK4-IDEKO researchers. This master-class aims to introduce students to applications of concepts related to Industry 4.0 in real manufacturing environments.

DANOBATGROUP, specialised in the manufacture of machine tools and production systems with a high technological level applied to cutting-edge and unique solutions, facilitates the development of a career curve marked by challenging projects and international work contexts, guaranteeing a high level of employability.
