AFM PARTICIPATES IN SMART CONNECTED MACHINES AND FACTORIES FOR SMART SERVICES (COMA 4.0)

26 October, 2018

The aim of the COMA project is to develop and deploy IoT solutions in a real manufacturing context, effecting a transformation that will allow moving from a conventional production system to a digital system connected to the cloud. In this way, COMA will allow participating businesses to achieve a digital transformation towards Smart Components, Smart Machines and Smart Factories, enabling the development of Smart Services and making the creating of new business scenarios possible.

One of the tasks that is under way within the framework of the project is the development of various demonstration systems of COMA intelligent machining services. The ultimate aim of these demonstration systems is to validate prior developments, implementing them in the real world of the machines and industrial plants of the participating companies. For this, the industrial manufacturing infrastructure - test, inspection and measurement, and vibration laboratories, and advanced manufacturing and automation processes - will be used.

Specifically, demonstration systems will be set up on milling machines, lathes, and multifunction and grinding machines from Soraluce and Danobat, and on a Goimek production line (which includes machines and other handling elements, robots, gantries, etc.).

The COMA project is part of the HAZITEK program - Program of support for business R&D - that started in 2016 and is due to finish in December this year. It has a budget of 5.22 million Euros and will be financed by the Basque Government and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020 (ERDF)

The following companies have participated in the project as partners: DanobatSoraluceGeminysFagor AutomationFagor ElectrónicaIngeteamSavvyGoimekIK4-IDEKOAOTEK and IK4-IKERLAN.
