• In line the with machine tool sector data, our country’s main industrial event has turned out to be an oasis of activity and new projects.

The 27th BIEMH closes its door today after six intense days during which machine tool and manufacturing technology manufacturers have exhibited their latest advances, in a climate of moderate expectation in accordance with the growth in demand that the sector has registered in the first few months of this year.

The Basque Industry Minister, Bernabé Unda, the Chairman of AFM, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, José Ignacio Torrecilla and the Chief Executive Officer of the Bilbao Exhibition Centre, José Miguel Corres, have presented this morning the final figures for a fair which for most of the exhibitors has had better commercial results than expected.

In the words of the Chairman of AFM, Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, José Ignacio Torrecilla: “The Biennial has shown that it is a robust fair even in adversity. We wanted to launch a message of commitment and expectation to the industry and it has been received and accepted”.

The institutions have shown their support for the sector by visiting the fair during the week. After the opening by the Minister of Industry, José Manuel Soria together with the Basque Government’s Minister of Industry, Bernabé Unda, the new products put on show by the manufacturers of advanced manufacturing technologies were visited by the Leaders of the Provincial Councils of Álava, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, the Director General of Finance and Competitiveness, the Basque Government’s Deputy Ministers for Vocational Training and Universities, representatives of ICEX, CDTI, Adegi, Confebask, and Confemetal, together with members of the Basque Parliament’s Industry Commission.
