Talleres Allus put their confidence in Danobat to strengthen lines for the large part market

Dernière modification 30/03/2012

Allus is planning investments of 5 million euros, these include the incorporation of a vertical lathe with a 7 m table, to be supplied by Danobat.

Both companies have worked together to design the lathe, it will have extraordinary dimensions and be the only piece of equipment of its kind in the large machining sector. Specifically, the VTC-8.000-H lathe will have a chuck on which parts of up to 8.8 metres can be turned, with a true turning height of up to 4.2 metres.

The lathe will be put into operation in 2013, notable features are a double RAM that will allow it to turn or mill on two axes at the same time, providing a significant reduction in operating times. Furthermore, the same sources indicate that each RAM will have an incorporated automatic head magazine as well as an automatic tool changer, "thus achieving total automation of the machine". Another notable innovation is the incorporation of a TV camera on each RAM "so that the operator can see, in real time, the work that is being done".

The machine has a side lift attached "for when very tall parts have to be worked on", and its motors are "more environmentally friendly as they will be water cooled". The incorporation of this lathe will be a major leap forward for Talleres Allus in terms of attracting customers, as its use will make it possible to complete any large part on a single machine, without having to carry out work on other machines as is currently the case.

In this regard, the Directors at Allus emphasise that the decision to acquire this lathe was taken "considering sectors that are strategic, such as offshore wind, which requires large pieces of equipment installed at sea", and others such as hydroelectric "where we find parts are becoming increasingly large".
