IBARMIA ends its Technical Days with the machining of large off-shore flanges
Last modified 30-03-2012
The days scheduled for the second half of January were a great success and the welcoming of visitors had to be extended to the end of February.
Representatives of the world’s leading manufacturers of large flanges, crowns and raceways visited IBARMIA’s facilities in Azkoitia (province of Gipuzkoa) to see the Basque manufacturer’s machining centres for these applications in action and in the assembly stage, together with the new range of high-performance vertical lathes for the same sector.
Visitors from the Basque Country and the rest of Spain, as well as France, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, … praised the company’s technological capacity, together with its great ability to adapt to its customers’ requirements thanks to its firm commitment to its own application-oriented engineering.
The praise for the new range of lathes was unanimous, with the rigid look of the whole machine structure and, in particular, its mandrels, the high installed capacity capable of getting the most out of the most advanced tools and the adaptation of the machine to the application all standing out.
The great interest and difficulty in fitting the initial dates into the schedules of busy executives, forced the company to extend the welcoming of visits to the end of February, with a more limited range on display as some machines had already been dismantled and shipped out.
The culmination of the Technical Days was the machining of 6 flanges with a 6,900 mm outer diameter for a leading wind turbine manufacturer in the off-shore sector, with cycle times only achievable by equipment that is state of the art in industrial production.
