The 60 Spanish manufacturers of machine tools, accessories, components and tools present in the fair represent over 20% of the surface this edition which starts Monday 28th May at Bilbao Exhibition Centre.

Torrecilla adds: “For us, it’s our fair; however, we also know it’s the main fair worldwide in high technology machinery for parts of large dimensions yet with great performance and precision. We’ve been specializing in this field until we became world leaders.”

The Spanish machine tool sector, third European Union producer and exporter; and ninth in the world grew in 2011 with a turnover of 22.7% reaching a global figure of 1,250.1 million euros. Machine tools invoiced 771.3 million euros, 22.1% growth over the previous year. Components, accessories and tools, 320.4 million euros, 10.8% more and other machinery and technologies, 180.3 million euros, 56.3% more than 2010.

Exports accounted for over 80% of global sector figures, which in the machine tool case reached an outstanding 90.1% of the turnover figure.

Occupation figures are slightly higher than 2010 reflecting the commitment of manufacturers and other exhibitors to bring technical and technological solutions to industry. With 4 pavilions occupied by 1171 exhibiting companies from 25 countries, 46% are foreign. Once again the Bienal is the main industrial competition held in Spain.
