Juaristi secures contracts guaranteeing it 80% of its workload for 2010

The contracts include orders from the Brazilian company Vale, the Swedish firm Esab and the Indian company BPCL, together with an innovative plan for equipping their range of large machines with hydrostatic systems

The Azkoitia-based company Juaristi has increased its client portfolio with the securing of two orders for Swedish robotics company Esab and Brazilian mining giants Vale.

The construction of these machines is added to other international contracts secured in countries such as India and Germany, and increases its order portfolio to over 20 million euros.

On a more specific note, the Vale group, through its engine construction specialist subsidiary company Vale Soluções em Energia, has commissioned the company a 5-axis machining/boring unit, with two of the axes integrated in the twist head, for machining turbine blades, shafts and housings. The machine, which forms part of the TS range, will have a 150 diameter mandrel and 8 controlled axes, in addition to a pick-up station for automatic head change. It will also be equipped with a 30-ton turntable and will be able to work with parts of up to 6000 x 3000 mm. Delivery is set for July.

The order for the Swedish company Esab, which specialises in the construction of automatic welding lines, consists of an MX/ type travelling column milling machine with two heads - one universal automatic head able to work vertically, horizontally and on inclined planes, and another small-sized angular automatic head for machining in small spaces – and an automatic head change magazine. The system will be able to machine parts of up to 20000 x 4000 mm.

Two hydrostatic machines are also currently being assembled at the company’s workshop, an MP7 RAM and a TP5 for the Indian firm BPCL, which specialises in pump manufacture for the power sector.

As regards application of hydrostatic systems to provide large machines with smooth movement and vibration absorption, Juaristi’s management are currently involved in an innovation plan to extend this technology to all their ranges of machines. The system is already included on their MP boring and milling units, and they are now working on standardising it for the TP line (T-bed planer type machines).

Another of Juaristi’s innovations is the recent completion of the design and manufacture of a new generation of turntables able to move up to 125 tons. The first unit in this line was supplied to the Vizcaya company Talleres Hilfa together with an MP7 unit with 6000 mm vertical travel.

Finally, the company is continuing with its investment plan for adding to the workshop’s resources. In the near future Juaristi will be acquiring a 3D gantry machine for large parts, and it will be using its own resources to construct a precision machining unit, a project that is set to begin on completion of their current orders.
