CMI Aeronáutica has changed its name to CMI Durango with the aim of boosting its manufacturing of new machinery.

The aim is to place value, at an international level, to the technological advances applied on its machines, which they manufacture for a wide range of sectors throughout the industrial field.

The company, established in Durango (Bizkaia) is a manufacturer of Gantry mills, bridge mills and oversized vertical lathes and drills. They also have a renowned heavy machining service, offering maintenance, retrofitting industrial machinery and engineering support.

Currently CMI Durango is promoting the manufacturing of its special customised machines to any industrial sector: aeronautic, railroad, automotive, wind power and many more.

Its manufacturing capacity is completed with wide flexibility of its resources, adapting to each client’s needs. For this, they have a technical office with full capacity and equipment with the latest technology, being able to take both engineering orders and make the 3D design for each machine-tool, to be able to deliver a high value added product totally adapted to the client’s order.

This company from Durango has invested more than 500,000 euros in recent years to modernise its processes and to provide a new product on the market.

This way, CMI Durango has just sold a sophisticated machine that will be delivered by the end of the year to a key client in Portugal that will use it to manufacture large ship propellers. This involves a machine designed to combine versatile drilling and milling processes, allowing for a complete finish of each propeller on the same machine, which can be adapted to manufacturing sectors.

Internationalisation

CMI Durango focuses on manufacturing very special, oversized machinery with innovative technologies, like the one recently shipped to a client in Bizkaia for machining composites in the aeronautics market. With this ‘know how,’ the company has a clear vocation to internationalise, since they clearly understand that their machines provide sufficient value added to interest any market throughout the world. The sales process abroad has simultaneously opened up various markets. Specifically, it has opened up a delegation in China, where it has already been for fifteen years. Furthermore, it has entered into markets in India, Russia, Brazil, France and Italy.

They will also be present with their own stand at the upcoming edition of the EMO 2011 Fair, to be held in Hannover, Germany from 19th to 24th September. They are also concluding a key reconstruction of a boring machine with a 5x5 rotating table that holds 160 tons, which is to be shipped to a Spanish company early this June.

CMI Durango is located in Durango with buildings taking up about 3,500 square meters. The company’s certificates include the ISO 9001 quality certificate and OSHAS 18001.
