Athader manufactures a 2500x19 levelling line for a Mexican company

Last modified 23-09-2010

After a complicated 2009, with this order, the company has improved its expectations for 2010, when it will also be carrying out projects in Spain, Poland and Argentina.

Athader

Athader, a company based in San Sebastián in the province of Gipuzkoa, has won a contract to supply a complete levelling and cut-to-length line that will be commissioned at the facilities of the Exportadora de Postes company in the Mexican town of Guadalajara. Exportadora de Postes will use the machine to produce lamp posts at its Guadalajara plant.

Whilst the domestic market is still waiting for the initial signs of recovery to be consolidated, exports continue to be one of the mainstays of the capital goods industry. This is the case of the Gipuzkoa-based company Athader, which has won a contract to manufacture, supply and commission a blank levelling and cutting line.

The levelling and cut-to-length line will process hot-rolled steel coils, pickled or not, 2,500 millimetres wide, 19 millimetres thick and weighing 25 tonnes at a speed of 30 metres a minute. Among the equipment it includes the following stand out: a double uncoiler with direct current motor braking and an initial straightener for material breakage before going into the leveller. The line will then have a leveller with four levels, 11 levelling rolls with a diameter of 180 millimetres which will be driven by alternating current motors. It will also have a complete adjustment system, with longitudinal tilting, crosswise tilting and counter-roll adjustment.

The following station will include a mechanical-hydraulic guillotine with automatic gap regulation. This unit will cut from bottom to top to minimise friction and any marking of the sheet metal.

The line will be completed with an automatic stacking system and different storing tables. The installations are scheduled to come into operation at the end of March once the Athader engineers have finished the assembly and start-up work.

Athader is a company specialising in the design, manufacture and assembly of installations for the iron and steel industry, focusing its activity on processing sheet metal coils. The company’s facilities are located at the Zuatzu Business Park (San Sebastián). The company manufactures cutting lines in widths of up to 2,600 millimetres, thicknesses of up to 25 millimetres and maximum speeds of 400 metres a minute.

This year, 2010, the company is starting a new stage in which it wants to highlight quality, reliability and after-sales service, based on a personalised service, adapted to the specific requirements of its customers. Information about its new working policy can be found on its new web site: www.athader.com.
