AFM celebrates its 65th anniversary

- The Spanish Association of Machine Tool Manufacturers today celebrated 65 years of existence as an association at its General Assembly, which was attended by the Regional Minister for Industry.
- Jan Borgonjon, President of Interchina and an expert consultant for the Chinese market, gave a speech entitled "China and Machine Tools".
- Numerous guests from the institutional, business and financial fields joined the sector representatives to celebrate the anniversary of one of Spain’s most veteran industrial associations.
The Miramón Technology Park auditorium was the venue chosen by AFM to hold its General Assembly together with its associate companies and numerous friends from the sector. 65 years spent cooperating and helping others cooperate to promote competitiveness is the slogan for this anniversary.
Chinese market expert Jan Borgonjon is the President of Interchina Consulting, a consultancy company with long-standing experience in the machinery and machine tool sector in China, which has developed a large number of strategy and investment projects in the sector for various European and American clients. Borgonjon explained the opportunities the Chinese market is offering to Spanish machine tool manufacturers today.
AFM’s meeting had a high turnout, which included the Basque Government Minister of Industry Bernabé Unda, the MP for Mobility and Urban Planning Arantza Tapia, the MP for Innovation and the Knowledge Society José Ramón Guridi – both from the Gipuzkoa Regional Government – the Mayor of Elgoibar Alfredo Etxeberría, the Basque Government’s Internationalisation Director Catalina Chamorro and its Director of Planning and Strategy Inmaculada Freije, among other institutional representatives present.
Along with the main machine tool manufacturers there were also many familiar faces from the business world, including Miguel Lazpiur, the President of Confebask, Eduardo Zubiaurre and José Miguel Ayerza, the President and Secretary General of ADEGI respectively, Andrés Sánchez de Apellániz, the Secretary General of Confemetal, Joseba Jaureguizar, the President of Tecnalia, José Miguel Corres, the Managing Director of BEC, the President and Managing Director of Elkargi, Victoriano Susperregui and Jesús Alberdi, and representatives from several clusters.
