The companies Lantek and Vicomtech have been nominated for the 3D Simulation awards by the 10th Annual Industrial Simulation Conference, ISC 2012, for their SIMCUT project, in the category “Engin_01, 3D Simulation Tools in Real Time for NC Metal Cutting and Punching Processes”.

This project, which is an initiative that forms part of Lantek’s extended innovation strategy, has led to collaboration between the two firms in the creation of the design and development of a 3D cutting simulator in real time for machine tools, which is capable of adapting to the requirements of any company in the metal sector.

The nomination for the 3D Simulation awards is recognition of the results of the excellent work done by Lantek and Vicomtech in the joint innovation project, as well as the significant advance that this 3D cutting simulator means for the market, as SIMCUT provides companies using any type of cutting machine in their work with a virtual environment that simulates what will happen on the machine before carrying out the final work. In this way, users can have a view of the final result and the chance to anticipate or react to possible problems or changes, as well as being able to organise and optimise the material with the resulting savings this implies.

SIMCUT is a project that is considered to be a total innovation, as there is currently no other solution like it on the market. SIMCUT is the result of two years of collaboration between Lantek and Vicomtech, and the answer to the continuous demand from companies in the metal industry for a solution that enables them to reduce costs and, at the same time, provides value to processes, offering a real view of the work beforehand. This initiative is therefore a clear example of the commitment of these two firms to innovation and the development of effective solutions that provide high added value and ensure that the correct decisions are taken in production processes.
