The company is designing a new strategic plan and is also to deliver six presses to different German companies in the automotive sector.
Ona Pres, a company engaged in the design and manufacture of hydraulic presses from its facilities in Zamudio (province of Bizkaia) is planning to anticipate the new demands of the markets, especially the car market, which is increasingly requiring higher tonnage presses. Therefore, those in charge of the Bizkaia-based co-operative, part of the Mondragon Group together with Fagor Arrasate, are designing a new strategic plan that will come into force next year, once the current 2009-2012 plan comes to an end.
It will invest in reinforcing its plant for these new products.
Among the main lines of action included in the future plan are the adaptation of its facilities to the development of new products and the intensification of the company’s sales strategy in foreign markets.
First of all, the adaptation of the production equipment in the plant that Onapres has in Zamudio could cost close to €1m to reinforce and modernise the factory’s production structure. Secondly, sales work will be intensified aimed at customers in the automotive sector abroad. It is worth noting that Onapres exports 95% of its production and 80% of its foreign sales go to Germany.
In that respect, the company is to deliver 6 presses of different types and power which will go into operation in a number of German companies for form different parts of car bodywork. To be precise, Onapres has won a contract to supply two 2,500 tonne presses together with another two 800 tonne presses. The order is completed with a 1,600 tonne press and another 1,000 tonne machine.
Among the presses delivered last year by the Zamudio-based company, a 3,000 tonne press for the BMW factory in Eisenbach stands out.
