, Machine Tools of Spain: Dependability, Reliability and Service

Spain is the 3rd biggest machine tool manufacturer in the European Union, 9th in the world and 10th biggest exporter. Forecasts for 2006 point towards an 8% growth in Spanish machine tool manufacturer's production, amounting to 976 million euros. Exports are expected to grow 10%, reaching 549 million euros, representing more than 56% of the total produced. Spain exports machines to more than 120 countries, the main markets being Germany, USA, Mexico, Italy, France, United Kingdom, China, Portugal and India, markets that make up almost 70% of exports.

Spanish machine tool exports to India are growing considerably from one year to the other. During 2005, exports amounted to 11.5 million euros, representing an increase of 87.5% with regards to 2004. And the forecasts for 2006 predict another big increase of around 25%. The efforts being made by our sector in India, increasing its commercial presence and even in some cases its production presence, are beginning to bear fruit and the prospects are that the Spanish presence in India will continue to increase gradually. A clear example of the growth of our presence is the IMTEX trade fair.

Many Spanish companies will be represented in the IMTEX trade fair, forming the Spanish Official Pavilion. The pavilion, organised and supported by ICEX (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior - Spanish Foreign Trade Institute, www.icex.es), will include 22 companies, representing different areas of the Production Technologies and occupying a surface area of 728 m 2 , located in Hall 3 lower level. The Spanish Pavilion once more will be one of the prominent landmarks at the fair.
